Credits: 1.0 general credit hour (Note: This class may qualify for technology credit in those jurisdictions having such requirements.)
Description: The informative class provides a legal and technical outline to help attorneys understand and evaluate the risks created by the adoption of cutting-edge technology like artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. Among the specific topics our expert panel discuss are an overview of AI, categorizing risk, legal liabilities associated with AI, the technical risks, and client guidance. They will also answer these questions:
- How should attorneys think about security, privacy, and algorithmic discrimination risks as they relate to AI and existing statutes and regulations?
- What are the technical risks AI creates (e.g., explainability and interpretability, AI “brittleness” and data drift, and past AI incidents)?
- How to explain legal mandates to data scientists?
You will leave with an understanding of the risks created by these technologies, and strategies for helping their clients identify and mitigate them.
