Description: Ending relationships of any kind is never easy. This applies to those relationships attorneys have with their clients. This informative class will guide the practicing attorney through the maze of ethics issues surrounding the termination of a representation prior to the conclusion of a matter. Our knowledgeable and engaging presenters will address situations where a lawyer must withdraw and where a lawyer may withdraw. The class also will cover the steps attorneys should take to withdraw from a client matter, including:
Issues relating to permission from courts or tribunals
Notice to clients
Deadlines
Confidentiality.
Lastly, the class will address obligations that ripen upon withdrawal, including the lawyer’s duties toward client files and funds.
