Description:Knowing the rules governing depositions is important, but it is not enough to effectively take or defend a deposition. Using video clips from real depositions, two experienced trial attorneys will let you in on their secrets for conducting a great deposition. This class is for attorneys with some litigation experience who would like to improve their skills in taking depositions. These are among the topics our distinguished panel will discuss:
Deposition scheduling
Videotaping and audiotaping of depositions
Depositions upon written questions
Depositions of attorneys
Depositions of experts
30(b)(6) depositions
Responding to subpoenas
Protective orders
Work product protection and attorney-client privilege
Objections and instructions not to answer at depositions
Submission of transcript to witness for review
Deposition-related sanctions
While this class is a must for those attorneys who have deposition experience, others may find it of interest as well. Attendees may also be interested in the first part of the series, Deposition Basics 2024 (On-Demand).
