Description: This new and informative class will address character and fitness issues in the D.C. Bar admissions process. It will discuss how to avoid character and fitness issues arising and the importance of disclosure, both before and in the Bar admission process itself. Our faculty experts will also discuss how to handle instances of where whether an applicant's conduct or circumstances fit within the character and fitness form's question is unclear.
The presenters will address how to discuss past misconduct and how to demonstrate rehabilitation or redemption. Tips about making the process proceed as quickly as possible will be outlined, as will the interplay between character and fitness and the D.C. Rules of Professional Conduct. Finally, the class will cover how to handle informal and formal character and fitness proceedings before the D.C. Committee on Admissions.
