Description: This year’s National Preservation Law Conference explores the rapidly evolving landscape of preservation law in light of recent administrative actions and legal challenges. Join the National Trust for Historic Preservation and a roster of national experts to learn about cutting-edge issues in historic preservation law. Our distinguished faculty shares the most timely information from different perspectives and engages the audience in understanding the strategies for the future of historic preservation law. The following are among the topics the conference covers:

  • Shifting landscapes in preservation law and how judicial changes could affect the future
  • The impact of recent executive orders and federal agency actions, including Loper Bright
  • Emerging threats to national monuments and public lands
  • An overview of new legislation and lobbying, including the new tax codes on preservation
  • The impact of recent court decisions on the National Environmental Policy Act and potential legal challenges to new regulations
  • Changing regulations and emerging issues in local preservation law, including state-level preemption laws
  • Overview of trends in tax law cases on preservation easements and congressional scrutiny on easement syndication
This program is ideal for attorneys, preservation professionals, policymakers, and advocates who want to stay current on the latest legal, regulatory, and legislative developments shaping the future of historic preservation.
