ON DEMAND: Employee Benefits Tax Series: How Pooled Employer Plans (PEPs) are Changing the Market
The Setting Every Community Up for Retirement Enhancement (SECURE) Act of 2019 created the opportunity to set up a new form of multiple employer defined contribution plan known as a “Pooled Employer Plan” (“PEP”), effective as of January 1, 2021.
PEPs have the potential to significantly reshape the retirement savings landscape by reducing the barriers to maintaining retirement plans by allowing unrelated employers to participate in a common plan, reducing costs, administrative burden and liability risk.
The D.C. Bar’s Employee Benefits Committee is pleased to welcome Michael Gorman, associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and Jack Eckart, Benefits Consultant at Ropes & Gray LLP, to discuss, among other things:
• Background on PEPs; • The advantages of PEPs vs. other retirement plan arrangements; and • Key developments in the early stages of the PEP marketplace.
