ON DEMAND: Free and Affordable Legal Services Alternatives in D.C. for Hard-Pressed Clients
Lawyers often are approached by people who need legal help but can't afford to pay for the representation they need. What do you do when you want to help someone, but you can't take their case? A panel of veteran practitioners in pro bono and alternative legal services will discuss resources that are available in the District of Columbia for clients in civil cases who cannot afford to pay standard legal fees and where people who must represent themselves can go for assistance. The panel will also explore changes that would help non-lawyers get adequate representation in courts and administrative agencies.
