A decade after the United Nations Human Rights Council issued a resolution establishing a working group to craft a legally binding instrument to ensure transnational corporations and other business enterprises comply with international human rights, the draft treaty may be reaching its final stages. The U.S. State Department is solidifying its views based on recent consultations on the draft Business and Human Rights Treaty. Come hear about the draft treaty’s points of contention and opportunity in holding corporate actors accountable to adverse impacts on human rights, including in the context of environmental protections, technology regulation and gender equality, and learn about the potential implications for your law practice.
