Exempt organizations engaging in international grantmaking are subject to a number of federal rules and regulations applicable to these activities. This panel will focus specifically on two particularly onerous regimes—the Office of Foreign Assets Control Sanctions Program and the Foreign Agents Registration Act. Specifically, our panelists will talk about how these rules apply to tax exempt organizations, how tax exempt organizations have been impacted by these in the past, and compliance and risk considerations related to each. With respect to FARA, our panelists will discuss the upcoming regulations and how they are expected to impact the way the rules apply to exempt organizations.
