Each year eligible students from six law schools in the District of Columbia are invited to compete in the D.C. Cup Moot Court Competition. The event pits law school against law school in friendly competition, arguing tough cases before a panel of volunteer judges. The competition serves as a rich educational opportunity to promote legal research and writing, analysis, and advocacy. Designed to confront topics of federal law and issues distinctive to the nation's capital, including the Home Rule Act and the D.C. Family and Medical Leave Act, the competition problem will allow students to explore positions of split authority to promote spirited arguments on both sides, as well as arguments on policy justifications. The four-round competition opens with preliminary and semifinal rounds before volunteer judges and closes with a final round of oral arguments in front of a three-judge panel composed of jurists and lawyers of significant professional stature in the District of Columbia. For further information regarding the competition’s details and rules, please click here. Dates and Times: • Saturday, February 22, 2025, 11:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. - Preliminary Rounds - D.C.
