Description: Being new to the practice of law or relocating your practice to a new jurisdiction is challenging. To help those new to practice in the District of Columbia overcome these challenges, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, on February 23, 1994, amended Rule II of the Rules Governing the Bar to establish a mandatory program on the D.C. Rules of Professional Conduct and D.C. Practice. The D.C. Bar, in turn, administers this informative and multi-faceted program.
Among the topics this program covers are the:
- D.C. Rules of Professional Conduct and Voluntary Standards for Civility in Professional Conduct
- District of Columbia System for the Regulation of Attorney Conduct
- Pro Bono Obligations and How to Fulfill Them
- District of Columbia Court Practice
- District of Columbia Administrative Practice
All attorneys admitted to the Bar after July 1, 1994, must complete this program within 12 months of admission to the Bar. Completing this course is necessary to maintain membership in the D.C. Bar. To accommodate our new members, the D.C. Bar presently offers this course in an On-Demand format.
