ON DEMAND: Tax Audits and Litigation Series: IRS Taxpayer First Act Update
Credit: 0 Credit Hours
Join us for an informal discussion with Heather Maloy, Director of the IRS Taxpayer First Act Office. The Taxpayer First Act was passed by Congress in July 2019. In addition to changes to the IRS Appeals process, the Act required the IRS to develop plans to improve the taxpayer experience, its training of employees, and the design of the organization. In January 2021, the IRS submitted a report to Congress outlining its recommendations in each category, including a significant restructuring of the agency. Ms. Maloy rejoined the IRS in February of this year after a a long career in both the private and public sectors, including almost 6 years as Commissioner of the Large Business & International Division. Most recently, she served as the leader of EY's Tax Controversy practice. She will join us on June 9th to give an update on the IRS's current thinking and progress around the areas identified in the Act.
