Come learn about the fascinating history and important challenges facing this vital local natural resource! Please join us for a virtual panel discussion and slideshow on an important local environmental issue - the health and future of the Anacostia River. Great strides have been made in rehabilitating this beloved river, including ecological improvements and plans for the new 11th Street Bridge park. But it is also important to reflect on the circumstances that led to the River's troubled past, and on the changes that renewal may bring to surrounding neighborhoods. Our panel will explore, both verbally and visually, the successes and challenges of the Anacostia River restoration, and what is being done, and what needs to be done, to ensure that the River, and the communities surrounding it, will achieve a brighter future. This event will follow up on issues discussed in the DC Bar’s 2018 event on the Anacostia River, and will highlight more recent changes, including progress on River restoration and the 11th Street Project.
