ON DEMAND: The Lavender Scare and LGBTQ+ Cultural Competency Training
This two-part training program will feature a presentation on the history and impact of the Lavender Scare, and a cultural competency training that focuses on increasing sensitivity and awareness in the workplace with respect to gender and the LGBTQ+ community. The training program will focus on the history of blatant discrimination against LGBTQ+ individuals in federal employment, as well as modern day issues and real life experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals, such as terminology, name pronoun usage, strategies for supporting a colleague who is transitioning in the workplace, and common questions such as restroom usage.
