ON DEMAND: The Guardian ad Litem (GAL) in a Child Custody Case: Serving as a GAL, and Working with a GAL when Representing a Party
Credit: 0 Credit Hours Join a panel comprised of judges assigned to the Domestic Relations calendar and family law attorneys for a discussion of the role of the Guardian ad Litem (GAL) in a child custody case. The panel discussion will cover considerations related both to serving as a GAL, and working with a GAL when representing a party. Specific topics will include how to determine when the appointment of a GAL may be appropriate in a custody case; how to become a GAL; the GAL’s relationship with their child client; the GAL’s relationship with the Court; the GAL’s role in a case; and navigating issues surrounding a child’s testimony.
