Description: Join us for this popular and topical class that provides an overview of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and the ethical standards to which those subject to the FAR must comply. The following are among the topics our expert panel will cover:
- An overview of FAR – What it is, what contracts qualify for it, and industry applicability
- Code of ethics requirements for government contractors
- Highlights of FAR ethical rules, including conflicts of interests, and truthfulness and accuracy in pricing/billing
- Relationship of FAR to other federal laws (e.g., Buy American Act)
- Reporting violations – What does “credible evidence of a violation” mean, and who is on the hook for failure to report?
- Consequences for non-compliance – Debarment, suspension, and civil damages
- The federal False Claims Act, its relationship to FAR requirements, and consequences of violation
For each of these topics, the panel will provide real-world examples through hypothetical situations and references to actual cases. Those who attend can expect to learn the framework of FAR and become familiar with day-to-day ethics issues and questions that government contractors face.
