Description: In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP) was established as the sole channel for claims related to alleged COVID-19 vaccine injuries. This new class provides a timely overview of the CICP, covering the legal framework, eligibility requirements, claim procedures, and compensation limits. Our faculty expert delves into the unique positioning of COVID-19 vaccine claims under this program, particularly compared to the more widely known National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP).
The class further examines the future possibilities for COVID-19 vaccine injury claims, analyzing potential legislative, executive, or regulatory responses that could reshape the CICP or move these claims to other venues. This includes a discussion of recent developments and evaluates the likelihood and implications of action by Congress, the White House, or the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that could transform the claims process and impact claimants’ rights.
This class is intended for attorneysspecializing in personal injury, healthcare law, and government programs, particularly those with clients impacted by COVID-19 vaccine injuries. However, others may find the topics of interest.
