ON DEMAND: Telehealth: The Evolution of the Regulatory Landscape, and Practical Applications in Response to COVID-19
Telehealth: The Evolution of the Regulatory Landscape
Credit: 0 Credit Hours
The COVID-19 pandemic presents challenges and threats to our health care system that clearly highlight the need for telehealth solutions to protect patients and providers. In response, federal and state governments have issued waivers and flexibilities to facilitate the use of telehealth, which has led to rapid expansion in telehealth practice.
This presentation will provide an overview of the pre-COVID telehealth regulatory framework, the changes that were made by the federal government and DC in response to the Public Health Emergency, and practical applications and considerations from the perspective of organizations using telehealth to connect patients and providers to enhance clinical care in response to this crisis. The regulatory changes implemented in response to COVID-19 are currently temporary, but the growth in telehealth adoption will likely have a lasting effect on our health care system as we contemplate the role of telemedicine and digital health post-pandemic.
