REMOTE PROGRAM: Suicide Awareness and Prevention: An Honest Conversation
Course Number:
C2426NC02W
Original Program Date:
November 13, 2025
Duration:
1 hour
Date:
November 13, 2025 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM ((GMT-05:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada))
Credit: 0 CLE Credit Hours Trying times like these, when coupled with the existing pressures of the legal profession, can cause serious mental health conditions to develop. Mood disorders, such as major depression, are not uncommon in lawyers and increase their risk of suicide. Tragically, lawyers are nearly five times more likely than the general population to die by suicide. Despite how many lawyers are suffering, most of us are still not comfortable discussing suicide risk or speaking up when we are concerned. Suicide is a danger we cannot ignore -- as a profession, or as colleagues, friends, and family members.
Join us for a candid and compassionate discussion on suicide awareness and prevention tailored for legal professionals. This program will explore the warning signs of suicidal ideation, the unique mental health challenges attorneys face, and how to support colleagues, clients, and ourselves in moments of crisis. We welcome all members of the legal profession to break the silence, encourage discussion, answer questions, and share resources in a safe space. Learn how YOU can play a role in suicide awareness and prevention. Pre-registration for this free program is required. As always, please feel free to share this invitation with colleagues. D.C. Bar membership is not required to attend. Non-members will need to create a profile to register.
This remote program will be hosted on the Zoom platform. You will receive access information from D.C. Bar Communities staff the afternoon prior to the program. The Zoom access information should not be shared with other, as registration is required.
