Cherine Fuad Foty Bio
As a senior associate in the firm’s international arbitration group, Cherine Foty’s practice is focused on international commercial and investor-state arbitration under a range of arbitral rules and applicable laws. Cherine is a dually qualified common law and civil law lawyer with particular experience in the energy sector, regularly representing clients in gas pricing arbitrations under long-term gas supply agreements, in cases involving renewables, and in matters relating to ESG. She also regularly handles complex international disputes across different sectors, including the energy, pharmaceutical, life sciences, mining, construction, luxury goods, quick service restaurant industries, as well as disputes involving shareholder, joint venture, share purchase, technology, and trademark agreements. Cherine has acted for both investors and states in investor-state arbitrations involving public and private international law. In addition, she has significant experience with conservatory and emergency measures as well as the enforcement and annulment of arbitral awards in state courts around the world.
She has represented clients in ad hoc proceedings, arbitrations governed by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Rules and lex mercatoria, and before major institutions such as the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), Permanent Court of Arbitration (PCA), London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), the Dubai International Financial Centre-LCIA (DIFC-LCIA), and the Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA).
Cherine is a Member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR. She is the Global Vice President of the Campaign for Greener Arbitrations, a Board Member of ArbitralWomen, and a Co-Founder of ArabArb. She is also the Advisor for Diversity & Inclusion for Arbitrator Intelligence, on the Steering Committee of the International Institute for Conflict Prevention & Resolution’s Y-ADR, and a member of the Rising Arbitrators Initiative and the American Bar Association, International Law Section.
Cherine has been recognized as a Best Lawyers “One to Watch” for France in the field of international arbitration. She speaks five languages and has received High Honors from the Capital Pro Bono Honor Role for her pro bono work.

Sushant Mahajan Bio

Sushant Mahajan is a qualified attorney from India. He has an independent law practice. He advises and conducts advocacy on a wide range of international and domestic commercial disputes. In particular, he has significant experience in international and domestic arbitrations. His work includes cases at the International Tribunal on the Law of the Sea, Singapore International Arbitration Center, Delhi International Arbitration Center, and under various other arbitration rules. He has also argued matters before the Indian Supreme Court and various State High Courts in India. He is currently pursuing an LLM from George Washington University Law School where he is the president of the GW-International Arbitration Students Association.

Eduardo J. Mathison Fuenmayor Bio
Eduardo Mathison is a counsel in Crowell & Moring’s International Dispute Resolution Group and is based in the Washington, D.C. office. He also works closely with the firm’s International Trade and White Collar & Regulatory Enforcement Groups, and C&M International, with a particular focus in Latin America.
Eduardo concentrates his practice on international arbitration and litigation matters across industries and jurisdictions. He has experience representing clients in international investment and commercial disputes before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID), the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), as well as ad hoc arbitrations conducted under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules. Eduardo also has experience representing foreign and domestic clients in Foreign Sovereign Immunities Act (FSIA) litigation, including victims of terrorism.
As a lawyer qualified in the District of Columbia, New York, and Venezuela, Eduardo is an active member of Crowell & Moring's Latin America practice. He has experience assisting clients in Latin American countries on U.S. economic sanctions, and export controls, as well as with anti-corruption and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) matters. He also works closely with consultants of the firm’s affiliate, C&M International, providing advice regarding international trade developments, investment-related issues, regulatory policy, and government affairs. Eduardo has assisted clients and worked with local counsel in over a dozen different jurisdictions across Latin America and the Caribbean, on a wide range of matters.
Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Eduardo was an associate in the litigation group of a leading Venezuelan firm, where he advised and represented clients in all contexts of litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
Eduardo is a native Spanish speaker and is fluent in English.

Gary has experience representing sovereign states, state-owned entities and private companies in arbitrations before ICSID, the ICC, PCA, AAA and LCIA, as well as enforcement proceedings in the United States. The amounts in controversy range from several million dollars to over five billion dollars.
