Patrick J. Coyne, Attorney
Patrick J. Coyne is a partner with Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner LLP. Patrick is a trial and appellate attorney. His litigation experience includes patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret claims; related antitrust and unfair competition issues; general commercial litigation; products liability; and domestic and international arbitration. He also assists clients with strategic portfolio development and management.

Patrick has argued more than one hundred cases in state and federal trial and appellate courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States. He has represented clients before the US International Trade Commission, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board of the US Patent and Trademark Office, and the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. He served as a law clerk and technical advisor to Circuit Judge Edward S. Smith of the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Patrick has been recognized as a leading patent litigator in the D.C. area by Intellectual Asset Management.

Patrick received a degree in civil engineering and studied nuclear engineering. He has also used his engineering experience representing clients in connection with telecommunications; energy storage systems, including various electrochemical battery technologies; diesel engines; gas turbine compressors; computational fluid dynamics; and other fields.

Patrick is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, and is admitted to practice before various federal courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States. Patrick clerked for the Honorable Edward S. Smith of the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. He earned a JD from the University of Virginia, as well as a BSCE with high distinction.
Morgan Erin Leigh
Morgan E. Leigh is counsel to Markham Law Firm, where she focuses her practice on protective orders, peace orders, domestic violence, and criminal cases in Maryland and Washington, D.C. She has trial experience in multiple local Maryland counties and Washington, D.C. 
 
Ms. Leigh began her career as a public defender in Montgomery County, Maryland where she represented clients in misdemeanor and felony cases. Ms. Leigh handled thousands of cases during her time at the Office of the Public Defender (OPD). After her time at OPD, she joined the Criminal Justice Act panel where she represented hundreds of clients in D.C. Superior Court. During this time, Ms. Leigh also ran her own law firm where she handled cases in all areas of criminal law, including theft, fraud, DUI, drug possession, handgun possession, and assault-related offenses. She also handled numerous protective orders and peace orders in multiple counties and Washington, D.C., including Extreme Risk Protective Orders. To further hone her DUI-defense skills, Ms. Leigh completed the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Standardized Field Sobriety Testing course – the same course completed by law enforcement. 
 
Ms. Leigh also represented police officers for the Fraternal Order of Police in Montgomery County. She represented officers in both criminal and administrative matters ranging from administrative suspensions to officer-involved shootings to officers charged with crimes. 
 
Prior to joining Markham Law Firm, Ms. Leigh worked as a senior trial attorney at a D.C.-based boutique law firm where she was tasked with building and opening the firm’s Maryland office. She handled many cases in both Washington, D.C., and Maryland. Ms. Leigh was also an Independent Program Attorney for US Law Shield, where she advised clients on all aspects of firearm regulations. With her extensive knowledge concerning firearm regulations, she co-authored Maryland Gun Law: Armed and Educated in 2022. 
 
Ms. Leigh is a member of the District of Columbia and Maryland bars and is admitted to practice before the US District Court for the District of Columbia, US District Court for Maryland, and the Supreme Court of the United States. She graduated cum laude from Georgia State University College of Law.
